Support for all of the arts is crucial this year and every year, with dance in particular helping us explore our individual and shared humanity. Thanks to your support, our work has continued to create programming that enriches the lives of dance artists, the dance-going public, and dance students around the globe.
Our dance for the camera STONES: whispers from the workhouse, produced by Catherine Gallant/DANCE has been screened at numerous festivals, including the Mobile Dance Film Festival (NYC), East Coast Dance Arts (Wicklow, Ireland), New York International Women Festival, Edinburgh Film Awards, San Francisco Arthouse Festival, Florida Shorts, Screendance Festival (Sweden) and the Palermo International Film Festival. Composer-musicians Kyle Sanna and Dana Lyn created the evocative soundtrack, and the film was edited by dancer, educator, and videographer Erica Lessner. Watch it here.
In January, Catherine Gallant/DANCE and Dances by Isadora presented GIFT: A Life in Dance at Gibney: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center. The program was a special reflection on Catherine's life in dance. The event includes new and recent choreography, dance films, performances of Isadora Duncan’s work, special guest artist appearances, and live music by longtime friend and outstanding NYCB pianist Alan Moverman. Thank you to those who were able to attend just before the first big snowfall of the year. In July 2026, Dances by Isadora will hold its 20th annual summer workshop! This year we'll be teaching at 92NY's Harkness Dance Center July 27-31. The focus will be on Duncan’s work, rooted in political protest and connecting with a new generation of dance artists. We are also continuing work on a new film, shot in Putnam County, NY, featuring a 1920 work by Isadora Duncan. The themes—mass migration, displacement, and resilience—resonate deeply with today’s global challenges. This project is part of our many ongoing activities leading up to the 150th anniversary of Duncan’s birth in 2027. Your tax-deductible donation makes this work possible. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us to produce, share, and sustain our creative efforts. Thank you for being part of this journey. with gratitude,
